On Friday, March 22nd, we hosted an event that was truly one for the books. Friends of the Museum gathered to celebrate the 60th anniversary of John Lennon’s iconic work, In His Own Write, alongside some very special guests. The evening was filled with laughter, nostalgia, and the shared love of Lennon’s unique literary voice.
The night began with a buzz of excitement as guests arrived, including the legendary Noddy Holder, beloved TV presenter Jo Blythe, and a host of other celebrity contributors. These notable personalities had all taken part in a special video project, which premiered during the event and is now proudly on display on the second floor of the museum.
This exclusive video features an impressive line up of actors, comedians, and musicians, each reading their favourite poems from In His Own Write. Among the distinguished readers are Stephen Fry and Brian May, whose heartfelt renditions brought Lennon’s whimsical words to life. Their participation, along with many others, added a magical touch to the celebration, reminding us all of the timelessness of Lennon’s wit and creativity.
The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the premiere of the video. Guests gathered in anticipation, and as the lights dimmed, the room filled with the voices of our celebrity readers, weaving the eclectic and surreal tapestry of Lennon’s prose. It was a powerful tribute, one that resonated deeply with everyone present.
As the night drew to a close, the atmosphere was electric with shared joy and appreciation. The event was a monumental success, not only in honouring John Lennon’s literary genius but also in bringing together a community of fans and friends who continue to be inspired by his work.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who attended and contributed to making the evening so special. Your presence and participation helped to create an unforgettable celebration of John Lennon’s In His Own Write. We invite everyone to visit the museum to experience the wonderful video display and to continue celebrating the legacy of one of the most influential figures in music and literature.
The whole evening was made possible by Tim Quinn and his amazing late wife Jane Quinn, who’s idea for the project made the whole night possible.
Here’s to many more evenings of inspiration and celebration at the museum!
